It is with heavy hearts that we report the passing of Stu Hughes, a beloved member of the Rochester Institute of Technology Athletics community. Hughes, who was a dedicated fan of anime, manga, cinema, and technology, was known for his passion for all things geek culture.
Hughes was a regular attendee at anime conventions, where he would cosplay as his favorite characters from popular series. He was also an avid collector of manga and comics, with an extensive library that he loved to share with fellow fans. In addition, Hughes was a frequent movie-goer, always eager to catch the latest releases and discuss them with friends.
Beyond his hobbies, Hughes was also a talented programmer and technology enthusiast. He was known for his innovative projects and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of tech support.
The news of Hughes’ passing has deeply saddened the RIT Athletics community, with many paying tribute to his memory on social media. “Stu was a true geek at heart and brought so much joy to those around him,” said one friend. “He will be greatly missed.”
